Pastor Jim White - "Ekklesia: Generational Praise" - 26th July 2026

A couple of months ago, we had a clean out at the church of the storerooms.

We have about three or four storerooms in this church.

And we had a bit of a tidy up.

Well, I thought it was just a tidy up of the storerooms.

And we had accumulated a lot of stuff over the years.

And even though we have had quite a number of tidy ups and cleanups previously.

So this was a couple of months ago, I rolled up that morning to help out and things were already underway.

And there were boxes and more boxes and piles of things being thrown into the back of trailers, ready to take to the tip.

And to be honest, I thought, wow, this is a serious cull, serious cull.

But I thought, well, you know, there's a plan here and I'm not going to get in the road of any of that.

So I just joined in and carried things out to the trailers and helped move some shelves.

There was shelving all in the storage room just out here up into the upstairs storeroom.

You know, and we made room over here for the new mother's room, which is just beautiful now.

And so it's all about making room.

So did all that.

It's a new kids' zone out there.

And so we had a break, we had to break for coffee.

And I'm chatting with Audrey while she's making the coffees.

And she said to me, it must be really hard and emotional to see all these things go that have been part of church life for all those years.

And she meant it.

Audrey was genuinely trying to be sensitive to what I might have been feeling that morning, seeing all this stuff go.

And I'll tell you exactly word for word what I said to her.

I said, I am impressed by how brutal you have been.

And like this, we both laughed.

We just both laughed.
