we got the squatchy surprises happening this saturday july 25th in south orange new jersey over at the south mountain reservation weather is going to be incredible it's going to be beautiful much cooler than last year last year we had a heat index of like almost 100 degrees it was very very warm so it's going to be a lot cooler this year highs are only going to be in the low 80s in terms of handling the heat we always recommend hydrating early and often soak your gear get wet early and stay wet if you're feeling hot.
That's a great way you can cool down along with slowing down and taking actual breaks at Squatch HQ.
We will have ice at the aid station, but it doesn't hurt to bring your own cooler of ice.
In terms of parking, so we will be at the middle area of Summit Field at the South Mountain Reservation in South Orange, New Jersey.
Parking is a little unique for this event because it's spread out throughout the entire area of what's called Summit Field.
And again, all this information is in our trail party handbook where you can pull up high res images of all this.
So we won't have volunteers out there because parking is just so spread out and And there's nothing like we don't have to fit cars in a certain space.
So the first set of spots that you're going to come up on Crest Drive after you come off of South Orange Ave, you turn onto Crest Drive.
This is the road that comes through the entire reservation on this side around Summit Field.
So the first set of parking is this strip of parking you'll see on the right hand side.
otherwise if those spots are all taken you can continue on you're going to turn right this road is now called summit crescent and the next strip of parking spots there's over 50 spots next to the dog park the dog park is on your left along with the wildflower sculpture garden and you're going to follow if they you know if all these spots are taken there's over 50 you're going to continue along summit summit crescent all along this road it's a one-way you can park on the right-hand side of the road so again just grab a spot when you see it please don't park on the left only park on the right we don't want to get in trouble with the county sheriffs who frequent the reservation you're gonna park all the way around Summit Crescent on the right-hand side you'll come up on one more designated parking area with actual parking spots with the painted lines on the ground but otherwise if if That lot is full.
