Life on the Flight Deck1:03 – 3:17

Daryl CaudleHost

1:03

Why?

Brittney BrownGuest

1:05

I think it's the tempo, uh, the ability to progress and lead.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:09

You know, I think that really, that's fulfilling.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:12

Yeah.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:13

A day in the life of, in a boatswain mate ABH, pretty tough?

Brittney BrownGuest

1:18

It's pretty tough, sir.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:19

Uh, we're looking at about-

Daryl CaudleHost

1:20

Describe it for me.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:20

I mean, tell me

Brittney BrownGuest

1:21

... absolutely.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:22

12-hour days, uh, under- on deployment.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:24

Uh, we're moving aircraft, you know, uh, day in and day out.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:28

Uh, tempo's pretty high, but it's very exciting.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:31

Mm-hmm.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:32

So much, yeah.

Daryl CaudleHost

1:33

How about you?

Brittney BrownGuest

1:35

Uh, sir, I personally love being an ABH.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:37

It was the only job I've had.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:39

I don't ever have any plans of converting or anything like that nature.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:43

It's, um, to the point where I'm at now in my career, it's very self... where it's r- very rewarding to see, to understand where you were as a junior sailor, and to see those same junior sailors come in.

Brittney BrownGuest

1:55

You see yourself in them, and then to see them evolve into what they-

Daryl CaudleHost

1:58

Mm

Brittney BrownGuest

1:58

... can do to unlock the potential that they have, it's very rewarding.

Brittney BrownGuest

2:03

And then just like ABH1 said, the, the tempo that you have is it's crazy long hours, but you end up not even caring about it.

Brittney BrownGuest

2:13

It's just what you are and who you become, and you know you're doing it for the greater good.
