USS Harry S. Truman

In the Red Sea, starting in late 2023, the U.S. Navy spent roughly a billion dollars on air defense in well under a year, firing interceptors that cost millions apiece at Hothi, drones that cost a fraction of that.

USS Harry S. Truman lost three Super Hornets in under five months.

One to friendly fire, one that went over the side with its tow tractor while the ship turned hard to dodge Houthi fire, and one when an arresting wire failed.

None were enemy kills.

Okay.

The USS Harry S. Truman.

The USS George H.W. Bush.

The USS Gerald Ford.

And it's aviation boatswain's mates that are the backbone of making that happen.

Today, we are joined by ABH1 Brittney Brown and ABH1 Theodore Welke, both serving aboard USS Harry S. Truman.

Welcome to the podcast.

Thank you.

We can tell you exactly where we were when we heard the news.

I was aboard USS Harry S. Truman having just arrived at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

We remember the first images from New York.

We remember watching the second plane hit and realizing this was not an accident.
