In this episode, we’re joined by Lewis Moses to preview UTMB Week 2026 and break down the biggest races, contenders and storylines to watch in Chamonix. We take a closer look at OCC, CCC and UTMB…
Lewis MosesGuestBethHostSo we've got Tove, who's a Swedish athlete, who recently won Mont Blanc Marathon and Zegama, and also took course record for both of them.
Winner of the short trail at World Champs, and actually her first-ever UTMB race, I think.
I don't think she's ever competed on a UTMB race, which surprised me.
We've got Judith Wyder, Swiss, first at the European Champs 50K, second at OCC 2025 and 2024.
Ida, Norwegian athlete, who was second at Mont Blanc Marathon, fourth at World Champs 50K, and fifth at OCC 2025.
Sara Alonso, Spanish athlete, first at Val d'Aran 50K, second at World Champs 50K, and fourth at OCC in 2025 and 2024.
And then a bit of British talent.
We've got Naomi Lang, um, who's d- been on the podcast before actually.
She came third at Piz Alpine and also third at Mont Blanc Marathon, third at World Champs in 2025, and I would love to see Naomi do really well.
Um, recently won Arc Petritol 50K as well.
And then a few of the other athletes that also could squeeze their way into the top spots.
We've got Malen Osa, Lauren Gregory, Holly Wootton, UK athlete, Beth Mackenzie, who actually doesn't have a 50K index yet, so she's ranked a bit lower down, but I think she could definitely do well in it.
So that's a lot, a lot of good women [chuckles] taking place in that 50K.
What are your impressions, Gus?

I think particularly on the women's side with people like, uh, Naomi, for example.

We've seen her very successful over distances around 40K, Marathon du Mont Blanc.

I, I'm not-- I'll be honest, I'm not certain that amount of elevation is exactly right.
