**What if wealth isn't only about how much money we have, but about whether our resources support a life in which we can actually be well?**
In this episode of *Rooted & Wild*, I’m joined again by **Dr. Njideka N. Olatunde, ND, PhD, MSW, CRI**, founder of the **Focus On Healing Wellness Institute**, to explore an often-overlooked relationship: the connection between **financial wellness, physical health, emotional stress, and our experience of pain**.
Dr. Olatunde’s work takes an unusually broad view of pain. Through her Touchology™ framework, she considers not only physical and emotional discomfort, but the financial pressures that can contribute to stress and affect overall well-being. Her work specifically brings physical and financial wellness together within what she describes as a **generational health-wealth legacy**.
Money may seem far removed from a conversation about healing, but financial uncertainty can become a significant source of stress. And when we’re worried about paying bills, accessing healthcare, supporting a family, maintaining employment, or preparing for the future, that pressure doesn't necessarily remain confined to a bank account.
So what does it mean to become **wealthy in health as well as finances?**
Dr. Olatunde and I explore the idea that health and wealth can function as interconnected resources. We look at the emotional and cultural beliefs we inherit around money, the ways financial stress can influence quality of life, and why creating greater financial stability can be considered part of a broader conversation about wellness.
We also discuss **generational health and wealth**. What are we teaching our families about caring for their bodies? What are we teaching them about money? And how might greater health literacy and financial literacy help future generations build lives with more stability, choice, and resilience?
This theme is central to Dr. Olatunde’s broader work. Her *Touchology Wellness Experience* has explored financial pain alongside physical and emotional pain, including conversations about transforming financial stress and examining how money patterns can be emotional, cultural, and generational.
Because perhaps true wealth isn't simply something we accumulate.
**It is also the health, knowledge, stability, resources, and choices we are able to carry forward—and eventually pass on.**
