Okay everyone at the table, if you've ever noticed your baby favoring one side, a flat spot forming on their head, or something that just felt a little "off" about how they move, we're unpacking all…

As a parent who's faced with some functional motor challenges for their kiddo, and it's time for us to look at some equipment or some devices to help us move better and function better.

As you're working with families on this, do you feel like that's kind of hard for them to move forward with using equipment? Can you tell me a little bit about the insight into that and what you're hearing them tell you?

I think it's really hard because there is still, unfortunately, that stigma around, OK, I have something that's going to set me apart from somebody else and I look, quote unquote, different.

And so a family a lot of times is really thinking about how is my child going to look? And how's my child going to look to others? So that is definitely one of the challenges.

I think the biggest thing that I really try to do is get a hold of a device or have one in my clinic for the kiddo to trial and just letting the parents see the difference that it makes.

Letting them take it home and try it for a little bit before they make that decision of, okay, do we want to go ahead and actually move forward with this? Trying to really move at their pace and letting the device really do the work of speaking on the importance and the need for it.

They'll be kind of skeptical about it or, you know, I didn't really want to use this at first, but, and then it's always the but.

And so usually like being able to see it really makes everything click and connect.

I'm sure that talking about it's one thing, but actually seeing your child use the device and seeing how much it improves their mobility, their quality of life.

And it also helps convince them that this is the best path for your kiddo in this season to help them get to, you know, from point A to point B and then just keep moving on down through the different points as they grow in development.

Don't you love that, Jill? It's just so outdated and we shouldn't wait and see on anything.

You have providers on every corner that can help you understand why wait and see is not the best approach.
