**Should you close your restaurant one day a week?** Many restaurant owners think about closing their restaurant one day a week to reduce stress and reclaim their time. Before they make that…

So the question that piqued my interest so much that I had to jump on here and record this for you There's a client that says they want to close one day per week because they're open seven days a week right now.

They want to close one day per week and they want to know if it's the right decision.

Now, what was telling in the later part of the post was that they were like, I will not let this business control my life or, you know, encroach on my happiness and everything.

Almost everyone that commented said, you know, we closed multiple days a week years ago.

And I'm like, no one has actually, no one's actually run the business analysis on this to find out what you should do, right? So let's walk it all the way back because the way that I would process a decision like this is one of the solutions, the person's already come up with a solution, which is to close one day a week because they believe by closing one day a week that it will solve the problem of them having to be there all the time, right? So that is a solution.

And what I will tell you is that in some cases that may be the right solution, right? It depends on the kind of business that you want.

But my point is it is one solution, right? And so what we actually have to do is find what is the problem And then we have to find out all of the solutions and then pick the best solution that has the highest likelihood of success with the skill set that we possess or that we can gain and then be able to take that and move forward.

So the root cause of the problem for this person, which again, this is not the thought process they put out there.

The thought process is that, hey, they spend all their time there and they are working too much and they don't want to work that way.
