Study the daily entries of "Hayom Yom," a book of short daily insights which was compiled by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, in 1942.
I'm sure this has happened to you before.
You'll be in a public space, maybe an amusement park or something, and there's a child that's really misbehaving.
And the parent flies into a terrible rage, and there's shouting and anger, almost a sense of loathing.
How dare you behave like this and embarrass me? And everybody standing around is uncomfortable with the incident.
Why? I think it's because innately we all realize that parenting is about many things.
There's lots of modes of parenting.
You've got to be giving and generous, and sometimes you have to have discipline and say no.
But the common ingredient in all modes of parenting should be love.
Once you get into extreme anger and loathing, borderline loathing, that's beyond the pale.
Even a very misbehaved child does not... deserve that.
It's unhealthy in every situation.
