Dr Anil and Dr Shalini Cherian - Part 2 - 22-23 August 2026

Once again, Dr. Anil and Dr. Shalini are in our Melbourne studios, along with their good friend, retired Dr. Ellen Gisbers.

We always thought of North India like sub-Saharan Africa or something.

A mission field right in your own country.

Yeah.

So I wanted to go and explore and see what it was like.

Is that where God was calling? You wanted another adventure, right? Yes, definitely.

And I wanted to see what it was like because we had only heard people talking and telling us that it's really bad.

Remember, Bihar is a place where they say more missionaries have died than actually— And you knew that

going in? Yeah, I definitely

did.

But you still went? Yeah, the thing is, one thing is people go out looking for greener pastures.

But somehow in my life, I've always looked for browner pastures.

Not everybody can say that.

But the Lord was leading you.

That's kind of how you're wired, it sounds like.

Yes, definitely.

So eventually, the two of you get back together.

Yeah, we returned.

I wanted to do specialty training in pediatrics.

Shalini was already doing her residency in obstetrics gynecology.

So she helps the babies get born, and then you help them.

Yeah, that's

where we used to meet, actually.

The same label suit.

Was that
