2 Samuel 14:21-33: Grace AND Truth

Today we're getting in the book of 2 Samuel 14.

These last several weeks, man, it's been some heavy content.

We've talked about 2 Samuel 11 and 12, where we see the sin of David against Bathsheba, and the murder of Uriah, and the way he is hidden it, and how Nathan confronts him and how he repents and how God restores and how God shows grace.

We saw the Psalms, Psalm 32, Psalm 51, which reflected on this life of repentance and renewal that God offers us when we confess our sins.

But this week and next, we're talking about the consequences that still happen in our life, oftentimes when we reap what we sow and when we don't learn from our mistakes.

You see, what we find here in these several chapters is that Amnon and Absalom, they're repeating some of the similar sins that David addressed and that David had and did not address in his life.

And it's a challenge to us, a sobering reminder to us that when we have fallen to then seek to be men and women of truth, otherwise bitterness, revenge, and grief are all that we will reap.

And unfortunately, this is the way the story unfolds through chapter 20 here in 2 Samuel.

personally in the life of David and in the life of those he loves dearly.

So today we're going to talk about how truth is needed with grace and how without the two, true reconciliation doesn't happen.

We're going to see here in 2 Samuel 14 verses 21 through 33, we're skipping around a little bit, how David reunites somewhat with David, with Absalom, but refuses to see him.

and how this only brings about greater consequences.
