I will quote in full the email shared with me from a concerned citizen from the area.

Quote, we have a big problem down here in southern Chesapeake by the North Carolina line.

A business called Praetorian just announced on Friday that They plan to build a 4,000 acre industrial data center sandwiched between the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and Cavalier Wildlife Management Area.

have been used at Cavalier and the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Heritage Area for hydrological remediations.

The Great Dismal Swamp is undergoing an assessment with the National Park Service to become a national heritage area for its association with the Underground Railroad in Maroon, as well as indigenous communities.

Furthermore, there is a Section 106 review from 2022 indicating there are historical and cultural implications for the Pamunkey, Delaware Nation, and Nansimum Indigenous Tribes.

It can be found on the City of Chesapeake's website under the planning documents for the Coastal Virginia Commerce Park from November 2022.

Sadly, the project keeps moving forward and we all need to work together in the name of stewardship for our land, water, air and wildlife, end quote.

Here is another from off of a social media platform that I pulled from a Google search.

No wonder the backstabbers wanted to keep the VCCP a by right area for data centers.

I am in disbelief that our city government would go behind our backs and make a deal like this.
