But we're going to kick this off, Kyle, with a bit of a Western States recap, because that feels like a long time ago.

But the show that we did was only a couple of days beforehand, and we were talking about Holly Ranson, our local SEQ runner, heading over there to take them on.

Holly, first of all, Holly's had an absolute cracker of a day, hasn't she? 15th place female in a time of 17.46 and some absolutely wonderful photos coming through there from Holly.

That's one of my aims, just to get a bit of an inside lane or inside information on how the day unfolded.

But aside from our local runner, Kyle, what were your takeaways from Western States? Let's just do five minutes at the top of the show here.

What were your thoughts? Yeah, it almost felt like there was a slight passing of the
guard, given that some of the big names that have been around for a while kind of weren't necessarily right up the front for a chunk of the race.
Obviously, people now know the results, but fast times, the first few guys going that fast is just... we knew it was going to happen at some point but it probably wasn't who we thought was going to be running that fast yeah which i think is great for the sport because we had all the big names we were talking about that we were really excited about who's going to beat who and now we've got this other group of names that are just i've run faster than these other guys that we always thought you know the best ever have ever run so it's an exciting time like both both male and female races was quick um you kind of got to see people like throw it all out there put everything on the line there's always going to be blow ups as there is every year And the coverage is really good this year.
I don't know how they're doing it, but like the footage for the majority of it was way better.
Like for them all to run that much fast, I don't think like the weather plays a part, but it's not like it was the coldest year on record or anything.
And there's so many of them that are going for it now that a few of them are going to pull it off every year.
So to kind of win this race now, you pretty much have to just go for it and hope you pull it off.
And it's either going to be a crash and burn, or you're going to pull it off and run a spectacular time, which is what we saw.
So I think there'll be plenty more big blowups in ultra races now, but there's going to be some really quick times as a result of how fast they're all racing.
