Anytime I need to remember something or make a new plan for some area of my life, the very first thing that I do is I start a new list, sometimes down to every detail of my life.
While I'm writing everything down and planning how I want things to go, I imagine myself as the person who can do all of these things.
But then I start noticing that I am neglecting or falling behind in other areas of my life.
Not because the things that I was writing down were necessarily unattainable or impossible.
But because trying to fit that many new habits into my routine at once was simply not realistic.
So now when I have something new that I'm working on, I limit my list to three to five things max at a time.
And then once I've either accomplished the thing or have given it enough time to become an actual habit that I no longer even need to think about, I will add a new goal to my list.
