The great lock-in challenge is what's replacing New Year's resolutions this year, and the timing is the entire point: there are 117 days left in 2026, which is a lot more runway than "the year got…
All right, so first, what is the Great Lock-In? Because I know half of us probably have never heard of it.
The Great Lock-In is a viral social media trend and personal challenge where people use the final four months of the year, so September through December, to intensely prioritize and focus on personal, financial, or wellness goals instead of waiting until January.
And one of the reasons why I think it's so important is because every woman needs to give herself a chance to see what actually happens when you follow through.
And this lock-in period is short enough to be able to stay consistent, but long enough to really change your year.
It's not a strict set of rules that everyone has to stick to the same way that something like 75 hard is.
So to start, these are the questions that you need to first ask yourself so that you can figure out exactly how to make the most of this challenge.
First, what do you need more of in your life? Is it more consistency, more peace, better boundaries, more rest, more follow through? After you're able to answer that, the second thing that you're going to do is you're going to customize your priorities.
Now, it's incredibly important for you to focus on your goals here and to just put blinders on to what anyone else is doing.
So third, after you have sorted out your priorities, you're going to choose the three goals that you want to lock in on.
And that is also really important because if we set goals for ourselves that we know are unrealistic for the timeframe that we have, we are going to easily give up.
Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't set big goals for yourself because I absolutely want you to do that.
But if necessary, when the goal is really big or it might require more time to reach it than what this end of year period allows for, it's better to break that goal down into something that is actually achievable.
But we also still wanted to take enough hard work and dedication that when you achieve it, you'll be proud of yourself.
And some examples of that could be your ultimate goal is to publish a novel, but you haven't even started it yet.
So for right now, your goal is going to be just to finish the first draft or maybe work on an outline and maybe the first couple of chapters.
If your goal is to be running marathons eventually, right now, you should shoot for your first 10K.
If you want to be debt free, finishing off the year paying off at least one credit card is an amazing start.
