If you get your news from the legacy media, you might be forgiven for thinking that the immigration crisis in Ceuta was solved months ago. That couldn’t be further from the truth, which is a disgrace…
that haven't been returned.
And it's kind of hard to figure out what's going on there.
But I mean, it's kind of clear from the Spanish side, because as we've heard, if you're interested in the whole genesis of this, listen to episode 49.
So you can go to fab.industries, f-a-b.industries.com. And then go and listen to that episode and you will, you know, I explain basically what happened.
Even if you live there, you obviously have to go by boat.
um across the mediterranean to go to spain and there are border controls because even though this is the european union and you know it's it's spain even but if you go to mainland there's still it's just it has a special status so you can't just you know they can't just magically um i mean they're on spanish territory now but they're not magically in the eu so So Spain's obviously not letting these people in.
But that much is clear.
It sounds like they're not taking these people back or they don't want to go back.
But the Spanish position obviously is clear.
You just came across the border.
You did this illegally.
And they kind of have to process them now in case they... apply for asylum I guess I don't know how they would because you know you have to come from a country where you're prosecuted or persecuted pretty much which is not the case with Morocco so I don't really understand like why you would even get asylum there but I guess there are processes anyway now Spain has to process paperwork I guess so you know they can't just and I guess they can't just push them out I mean, they could with Forge, obviously, but if Morocco doesn't take them back.
So it's kind of an unclear situation.
And this being Al Jazeera, this was kind of close to a mainstream media report, as I could get, even though you wouldn't really say that Al Jazeera is so much mainstream media.
But as I said, there isn't any reporting going on about this with other legacy media organizations.
So I picked up another report here.
I guess they're a newer outlet, and they're pretty edgy.
They're on pretty much the other side of this.
This is from a show with a guy called Nick Dunning, and they have like a Spanish...
I think it's a Spanish reporter.
She kind of got in there and she's like on the ground and she's like reporting from those camps on the beach where these people just camped out.
that haven't been returned.
