Paying The Penalty - Barnsley Reaction

Started off on the front four.

I mean, I'd echo that.

I thought...

Sort of back to

front, we looked quality across the board for the majority of it.

Like you say, maybe about the hour mark, we brought on the kids.

I think there was a noticeable drop in quality.

I think if we're going to start the season with a bench like that, we might be in a bit of trouble.

But in terms of the players on the pitch, there was very little at fault other than maybe the front three not taking their chances.

Weir and Power looked really good.

Power's not lost it, which is great to see because...

I know that there was a lot of people maybe questioning his legs at however old he is, 32, 33, 34.

He didn't look bad at all.

The defending was really strong.

Barrett, I think, looks really quality at this level.

If we're just echoing what you said there, Barry, we really should have been 6-0 up by half-time.

Murray really should have scored two.

Costello probably should have done better for his second.

Carragher should have scored.

There was a plethora of missed opportunities, and I think if we can sort that out, get someone with some shooting boots, we're looking quite good.

You've got to be a little bit wary, haven't you? It's the first game or two, you've got to settle down.

I think they come in a bit fresh and keen, but it's certainly better than where we were on Wednesday,

isn't it? I mean, talking about the result and that, I don't know why everybody didn't go for a one apiece.

It's figured off like it was in Barnsley and that's how it finishes.

In my prediction, I said one apiece and it'll go one way or the other on penalties and that's exactly how it turned out.
