Progressive Passport | A Circuit Breaker Moment for Britain

This is Progress Canada presented by Lightbulb Narrative.

Okay, so today we are back with a midsummer episode, which we haven't been doing a lot of because we're technically off, but you know, we're political, so we can't really be off.

So we've decided to come together for a new panel that we're calling the Progressive Passport Panel.

And the whole point of it is analyzing the progressive people and ideas that are changing politics around the world.

Usually we focus on Canada and maybe the provinces, but we want to extend our focus to progressive politics worldwide.

And we want to talk about what Canadian leaders can actually learn from our global partners in progress.

That's a nice sentence.

So today's episode, we're actually going to be focusing on the UK.

They obviously have a new prime minister who's been in there for a few weeks at this point.

He's come up with a 10 year plan to get Britain back on track in the aftermath of Brexit and what he calls 40 years of deindustrialization, privatization and austerity, which, heck yes, fully agree, sir.

So that's going to be the focus of today's episode.

But in future episodes, we're going to focus on other people and places.

You know, if anyone listens to our podcast, they know about Alex's obsession with Mamdani.

So we're definitely going to do an episode on him at some point.

Maybe we'll get over to Spain.

There are many different options for us to talk about because there are progressive options.

governments and parties across the world who are doing interesting things that we can learn from.

Before we dive into all this, though, we want to introduce our panel so you have a sense of who they are before we start talking.
