This week on Off Topic, I’m talking about the Ryan Seacrest and iHeartRadio Top Host opportunity, why putting yourself out there matters, and the simplest social media advice I can give anyone right now: **press record and start talking.** You don’t need perfect lighting, a perfect thumbnail, or a huge following. You just need to start. I also share what I’ve learned from putting myself out there more with Storytime with Eric, Now Design Talk, and my country music content.

Top Host Competition1:22 – 3:07

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:22

And that is a post that I put out on Monday.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:25

And it is...

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:26

I basically asked people for a vote.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:29

And I felt very awkward doing that because I do not like... asking people to vote for me on something.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:35

I even get cringed when I ask people to review my podcast on any podcast platform.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:42

But I was nominated and thought it was cool to continue this.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:49

And what I'm talking about, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, on social media I made that post asking for a vote.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:55

The competition is called Top Host.

E

Eric DillmanHost

1:58

It is backed by iHeartRadio and Ryan Seacrest.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:01

And it's basically finding the next big person in podcasting world.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:05

And they're going to produce six episodes of a podcast.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:10

So there's a bunch of podcast hosts around the world applied for this.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:13

And I think it's like $25,000 plus like they're going to update all your podcast equipment.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:20

And I think it's an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:25

But again, yeah, it was very uncomfortable to ask for people to vote, but yeah, It's been amazing seeing all the votes come in.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:33

And there's a lot of competition out there.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:35

I think there's a lot of people.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:36

You could also buy votes as well.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:39

But we have 15 days to do it or maybe 10 days to do it.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:43

I think it closes October 15th.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:44

It started on the 5th.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:46

So every day you could post.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:47

And a little did you know, you could also post or you could do it with a verification of Facebook.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:55

And then you could also vote with your text message on your phone.

E

Eric DillmanHost

2:59

So I greatly appreciate if you do that, cause that'd be amazing to make pro series get just bigger than it already is.
