Frankly, it almost kinda startled me just because of how, you know, the thought of self-funding your long-term care needs, which is what we're going to focus on, and boy, uh, you better get buy-in from your spouse on this one.
So, you know, a lot of people we talk to and a lot of advisors, as everyone knows, we do a lot of work with financial advisors from coast to coast, and people will say, "Well, we can self-fund.
We can take care of this problem." And a lot of people don't really understand what that's all about.
They don't understand it, it sounds great in theory and talking about it now, but when push comes to shove, we- we've heard back from some of those families and being like, "Boy, we, that was not the best move on our part." And the idea is, is that whenever we work with somebody, everybody we work with is, is pretty much self-funding some of the cost of care.
But the insurance, as we've talked about, just kinda gives them, them the good direction on it.
And again, we, we, we wanna make sure that everybody has that conversation and, and has that as well with, with their spouse and their partners also.
I think a lot of people would like to, like to go and, uh, not have to buy more insurance, right? I don't like any of the insurance I buy.
... you know, people can be, you know, people could think, "Yeah, I can avoid that, and, and, uh, I can avoid this, uh, irritant and this cost." Um, yeah, but, but can you? Can you really do that? Because my understanding is, you know, if you take that risk, you risk a lot of, of your own economic, uh, freedom and even autonomy.
You're gonna be dealing with a system that you may not wanna deal with if you actually don't have the resources to do it, or you'll be shocked of what it does to an estate.
And there, and there's a lot of, there's a lot of moving parts in that as well within family dynamics.
