Welcome to the latest episode of Preserving History and Democracy! In this episode, County Clerk Dr. Amanda López Askin sits down with two of our summer interns, Chris and Fatima, for a conversation…
So what would you say to somebody who wants to come in to be an intern? What did you get out of this? What was the best thing after X amount of time of being here, getting to know our team, the flow? What do you think that you feel like, you know, that was cool.
Honestly I think because I have applied to other jobs and whatnot and it's really hard to get into the workforce as of right now I feel because you need experience like there's not many like entry-level jobs that like are like oh yeah like we want younger people so I think it's very good to have like work experience and I feel like the internship really is like able to give younger people that you
yeah yeah i think that's a really good part of the internship right is that being able to put it on your resume and be like this is what i have done and this like i've gotten references from this so i think i think that's one of like the most beneficiary things
i think it's hard sometimes when you want to play for a job and they say you have to have experience but you're like how do i get experience if you don't give me a chance So this is what's great about internships is that your chance is already built in.
These people believed in me, and they know that I do good work, and that's always helpful, right? So it's like you help us, we help you kind of a thing.
I would say the skills you get out of it, like being able to communicate with others and knowing when to ask for help instead of just staying quiet.
And then, of course, getting to put this on your resume so other people know you have experience.
I agree, and I think it'll be exciting if you guys decide to be able to come.
