On ecosystem restoration; building coherent, sustainable supply chains into the garments we wear; creating resilience in our systems, our bodies, our hearts. - **0:00** - Introduction to Vanessa…
Vanessa Barboni HallikGuestAnd I think lastly, in one of the pieces that I read about you, you've said that fashion is kind of lagging about a decade behind food with regard to honesty about its impact on the Earth.
What do you think it would take for this sort of radical traceability to become the floor rather than, "This is why we're different"?
If you look at what's happening in Europe, um, a lot of regulation is actually kicking in right now, whether it's the French eco scores or the digital product passports, uh, that are now becoming mandated in the EU.
I mean, this is really becoming a reality, and I think that's one of the reasons why there has been this disconnect.
You know, food, it's the very nature of food and the fact that we put food into our bodies is regulated, perhaps not enough, but certainly more heavily, you know, kind of the world over.
And it's just not been the case in fashion, and fashion supply chains have been incredibly opaque and incredibly complex.
And so I think it's also more difficult for, uh, not just the customer to understand it, but even policymakers to understand it.
And so I think now what's happening in Europe is really incredibly powerful, and it is this recognition that transparency is key, and I think that we're only really able to act to our level of awareness.
And so that awareness starts with information, and the information is coming, and I'm really, really thrilled about that.
