An important note here is that you will want your microphone connected before you start recording.
If you start recording and then you want to change your microphone, Riverside will not allow you to do it.
Another important thing for you to remember is that you want to keep your questions or the topics that you want to hit on in your interview as close to you as possible.
So I'll just show you.
My setup looks like this, where we have the script.
Right over here, we have the recording happening over here and we have the mic right in front of me.
In your case, it might be that Riverside is right over here and the script is right over here so that it doesn't look too dramatic when you are glancing over at your script before looking back at the person that you're interviewing, okay? And finally, you wanna pick a quiet room with lots of soft surfaces and soft furnishings around you in order to help absorb the sound.
I'll show you what all of the different pieces look like in my studio, but you don't have to have all of this.
You just want to have as many soft surfaces as possible.
Okay.
So in my case, I have a chair with a blanket on it.
I have a carpet.
I have a poof.
I have another poof with another blanket on it.
I have curtains.
The shutters are closed outside the curtains to keep more sound out.
And then we have these sound panels up in the office as well.
So you don't have to do all of that.
I didn't have these sound panels for a really long time.
So as many soft surfaces as you can keep around you, the better off you'll be.
