We Trust in the Name of the Lord Our God
And to get to the first one, let me ask what may be an obvious question for some of you.
You know, sometimes that's almost as important as what it did say, right? And so if we ask the question, well, why didn't it exclude this? I mean, we trust in the person, right, of God.
Now, many people, when they hear a question like that, immediately think something like this.
Well, Pastor Shane, don't you know, in Bible times, Old Testament, New Testament era, names meant something much more than they do now.
And it's true, there's a lot more usage of this type of phraseology in the Bible.
But before we put too much cultural space between us and, say, David, the human author of Psalm 20, verse 7, let's do a little reflecting on the importance of names today.
Ladies, which is better, Kate Spade or Coach? Let's hope there are no Kate Spade executives listening right now.
Yes, right? Everyone, which is better, the gazebo or baguette? Remember, this is church.
Don't do that, right? And how about this one? Which is better, a date with a theology major or pre-med student? I am curious what all the theology majors answered to that question, right? Me, me.
But did you notice? Did you notice all it took was the mention of a name? Yeah.
