Can you build an ambitious career without sacrificing the life you love? And what separates a high-performing individual contributor from someone ready to lead? In this episode of The Pharmaverse…
Amama SadiqGuestMichael PietrackHostI love asking those questions initially because a lot of female leaders link back to their dad as an influence to them becoming a leader.
And, you know, female leadership, minority leadership, all these different topics are, are hot topics.

I, I think it is incumbent upon us to help other young aspiring female leaders around us.

I think it is important for us to recognize that we will always approach leadership in, in a different way, right? Um, I, I think female leaders ...

We don't have to approach leadership the same way as perhaps a, a male leader will.

We will genuinely lead with more compassion, with more empathy, um, with more flexibility, and providing that to other female leaders and other female team members will really help them grow into the next generation of leaders.

And then the second piece around minority is, um, and in leadership is another really important one because I think we do a lot of, you know, and, and I've done the same, right? "Oh, look, look at these great institutions that I've trained," or, "University College London," or, "Look at me, I've got my MPH from Harvard." We've all done this, and we all look at the perfect resume.

But what we're, what we forget sometimes, and I would be remiss if I didn't point it out, is, i- is that there, there are experiences that people have lived that sometimes don't make it onto those resumes, and those different cultures, um, that they might have lived through, or the different geographies that they might have worked in, those experiences cannot be, um, accounted for sometimes just through a resume.
You know, female leaders, uh, I- all leaders, but I know female leaders face different challenges that maybe a male leader doesn't face.
You know, for the newer female leaders out there, what obstacles are they gonna face in their future?

I, I think it's come a long way, right? I have to, I, I want to start by it's come a long way.

Um, we have folks that are constantly trying to do their part in terms of recruitment.
