Julien Dreyfus and Fabien Praz review the current indications and management of severe tricuspid regurgitation, highlighting that treatment is now recommended for symptomatic patients, and emphasising…
So Fabien, I have a question for you regarding the current indications for treatment of patients with severe
So obviously, one part of the answer are the guidelines, and the guidelines say that we need to treat this patient.
So they need to be symptomatic, to have some symptoms that are related to triglyceridic agitation, and they need to have severe triglyceridic agitation.
What are symptoms related to TR? And this is often a missed symptom, I would say.
shortness of breath, that's probably the first one we forget about, and then edema, and then ascites when the disease develops, and also some kind of dizziness, loss of appetite, that patient can be very unspecific, but also due to tricuspid regurgitation.
So look at this patient in the whole way, in the whole clinical way, to send them, and that's also a second recommendation of the guideline, to an expert center.
And that's very important because not only the treatment, but also the diagnostic needs to be done at an expert center.
And Julien, maybe you can tell us what are the steps, the essential steps, for diagnosing tricuspid regurgitation and preparing a patient to a procedure.
