The Personal Rare Disease Journey Behind CNBC Cures with Becky Quick

But I've had so many wonderful comments about the podcast series and the lessons in any sense that I'm confident that we are making a difference.

And the numbers bear that out.

And we're approaching something like 40,000 listeners.

I know to Becky, that doesn't sound like much, my guest.

But for a little organization like NMOR, I'm dealing with the rarest of diseases.

That's a big number for us and it's growing.

And so that's great.

And to celebrate our 100th anniversary of our podcast, 100th anniversary, that's the number of years I'm almost married.

But anyway, that's another story.

To celebrate our 100th episode, I'm pleased to welcome our special guest, Becky Quipp.

I'm sure, of course, that many of you think you know Becky because she's the host of the very popular and influential Squawk Box on CNBC Monday through Friday at 6 to 9, I think.

I hope I'm right.

And also is now leading CNBC's focus on rare disease, and that's called Cure CNBC.

Right.

So she's in the public eye.

Actually, she makes me kind of anxious about doing the job here, but I'll just have to live with the anxiety.

Each of you can send me a little sympathy card if you like.

And in addition to all of her work on the media, she's a mother of two children, one of whom has a mutation in a gene called SYNGAP.

But I'll let her tell you about her family and the impact of Syngap disease on her daughter and her family.
