Leinster head coach Leo Cullen & player Jamie Osborne speak to media after their 24-18 win over Munster in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening. Rugby on Off The Ball with Bank Of Ireland |…
Leo, what pleases you most about the way he, I suppose, dug that one out from a really tough position?
Yeah, it's good composure, wasn't it? There are going to be unbelievably fiercely contested games, derby games.
Munster were good in the contact area, probably a little bit better than us in the first half.
Both sides of the ball and we went into a 13-0 lead.
I was like, oh, is this going to be a bit like it was last year in Crowe Park? But I thought the chip players showed good composure and could come back and try.
And we started getting a little bit of a tendency, you know, but then we would give away a turnover.
But you had to carry into that breeze.
Like, obviously, it's tricky enough conditions.
It's the way it looked, certainly from the world point of view.
So you're going to have to carry.
You're going to have to roll your sleeves up in the first half.
And there was a couple of times where just a little bit off, give away turnovers, and that gives months their life.
And But the message really at half-time is watch us stick to it and make sure they enjoy themselves and keep pounding away.
And then there's a very strong, for most of the half, I think we've dominated territory and possession, played a game in the right areas of the field.
Scrum gets dominant, which is good as well.
Munster, I thought they were hanging in, they were giving away penalties, a lot of penalties and eventually some of those would have been worn prior to that.
The composure is good, players sticking to it.
This time last year we were poor when we got ourselves in that position.
We made life more difficult for ourselves, weren't clinical.
Much more clinical in the second half.
It must have brought a huge amount to the contest, didn't it? We had to find a way out there today, in difficult conditions.
Pleased to go in, bonus point, and we move on.
