Can't find a Hebamme? Had to switch gynecologist? No time to search for a Kita? Nigora Isamiddin shares her honest experience of pregnancy in Berlin as an international parent, and why it's okay when…
Yeah, I think it's quite a journey when you're new somewhere to just figure out how everything works and healthcare system in Germany, I feel like is very specific.
In the beginning, I was quite, I think when I found out I was pregnant, I was sort of like, okay, what do I do now? You know, if I have to give like a general rating or something review.
You have to figure things out a lot and kind of do research and things like that.
But also I remember like maybe after a second or third visit to the doctor, There was also some kind of a misunderstanding because I came with my partner, with my husband, and then thinking that we're going to have an ultrasound.
So what I learned afterwards in Germany, you have normally only get three or four ultrasounds throughout your pregnancy.
At the time, I remember her saying or something that I understood that there was going to be an ultrasound.
So I came together with my husband for him to see, sort of to also experience this.
Not everywhere, of course, but sort of I'm used to doctors kind of like asking you how you are, passionate, warm, you know.
Sometimes also even like remembering you, remembering things about you or something like that.
