Vincent HoGuestMike WilliamsHostComcare, the Australian government's national work, health and safety and workers' compensation authority, some time ago developed their research plan towards 2022 to research and address the emerging challenges to workplaces and the health and wellbeing of workers.
It was the largest survey of Australian truck drivers ever undertaken, with a view to identifying the factors important to both good and poor health in drivers.
They listed truck drivers as being the number one employer of Australian males, and they found that truckies are more likely to die or be seriously injured at work than any other workers.
With these studies still continuing and being constantly updated, their findings continue to reveal high levels of obesity, chronic pain, and psychological distress amongst Aussie truckies, with employers being encouraged to promote worker access to health and wellbeing resources.
One area of major concern that was and still is apparent is in regard to the issues of healthy eating and diet.
Now, way back in episode 11 of On the Road, Mike spoke with gastroenterologist and gut health specialist, Dr. Vincent Ho, and the information shared in that interview is as relevant today as it was back then.
This week, we've decided to share their chat with you once again in the interest of keeping this vitally important conversation going.
Here's Mike and Dr. Vincent Ho.
