Next Stop: Typewriter City

That's great.

You talked a lot about how you were putting it together.

How hard or easy was it? It sounds like there was a lot of serendipity involved in the creation of this whole typewriter trail.

The actual planning part just kind of started rolling.

Once you got that ball rolling, it was going.

Physically, it was kind of difficult because typewriters are very heavy.

They weigh like 30 or 40 pounds each.

And there's 29 of them.

And I moved to them twice.

With the help of Jonathan for one of them, we took some professional photos of the machines.

So they'll go on the library's archive.

So they're kind of cemented in history.

and then a second time to deliver them to all of the different stops.

And the City of Woodstock facilities team were heroes with that.

Typewriters are just kind of weird to move, because like I said, they're heavy.

They've got all these moving pieces.

Some of them are incredibly unique.

They're one of only a handful of that particular model that's left in the world.

And you can't stack them on top of each other.

So, you know, we were driving around with the city van and just showing up with this typewriter and people, you know, the people who had agreed to be these host sites were super excited.

Yeah.

And how did they, so you had sent out an email and it was kind of like, we have so many typewriters, who wants one? Yeah, exactly.

And then you built, how did that kind of come about?

The display cases.

We kind of wanted to protect these machines from, you know, like rough use and also dust because there's a lot of fine pieces.
