Flags, Fame and Friction: Race, Patriotism, and Pop Culture

You know, of course, we had the

Independence Day holiday over the weekend and a lot of festivities, you know, a lot of things going on.

Some things that we'll probably talk about today.

I know one of the things I didn't get a chance, they had all kinds of stuff on TV,

but

one of the things I did get a chance to check out, I hope you guys did too.

I started learning about it, the...

One Philly concert was really, really cool.

I like what they did with that.

They had all the performers were from Philadelphia, born and raised.

And they had a slew of performers, but it got interrupted by the rain.

And they had a two-hour rain delay.

Mayor Sherelle Parker decided, hey, we're going to get this in today.

And so at 12, after midnight it was like 12 10 midnight after midnight they decided to bring the performers back who hadn't performed yet and they they had them come on stage and do their thing that was the let me see the girl from sister sleds her and then the roots performed and they had meat meals they had State property with Beanie Siegel and Freeway.

And then they brought Big Will out to do the closing of the show, Jazzy Jeffers.

And the Fresh Prince came out and closed the show.

Man, it was a great concert.

And people just, you could tell people really enjoyed themselves or whatever.

So it was definitely a good look.

It made Philly look good.

even though a lot of people, you know, were mad at the mayor because they were saying, well, how much is this going to cost us? So, it was interesting.

It was really, really good.

And the fact that they were determined to get it in, Jazzy Jeff was like, he said, well, it was really great doing this and that we were able to get it in even though it's not July, technically, it's not July 4th anymore because it was after midnight.

So, yeah, so, But it was a great, it was a great look.

And, you know, everybody behaved themselves and everybody just had a good time, man.
