Working My Nerves

A brilliant, beautiful sister by the name of, uh, Sandra Kabaya, she's from Harare, Zimbabwe, wrote an incredible blog on the pain of being unemployed.

In it, she said, "Nobody talks about the pain of waking up with nowhere to go.

The shame of hearing, 'We have decided to go with another candidate.' The guilt of watching your parents, partner, or children trying to encourage you while you're falling apart." Unemployment is not just about lacking a job.

It's about slowly losing a piece of yourself.

Amen.

Your confidence, your sense of purpose, your belief that things will get better.

Unemployment, New Birth, unemployment does not just steal paychecks.

It steals identities.

It'll take the sparkle out of your eyes, confidence out of your heart, faith out of your spirit, and dignity out of your personality.

It makes you wonder whether you are seen, whether you are qualified, or whether you are even worthy.

People at the top of their class and field can end up in the lowest pit of depression.

Satan, if you are not careful, will try to use this season to strangle your self-esteem.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Satan will use this season to suffocate your self-worth.

You have gotta be vigilant not to allow it.

Yeah.

You are not worthless.

You are not a burden.

Preach.

You are not a failure.

You are not insufficient.

The system is broken, not you.

[applause] Your heavenly assignment is going to orchestrate an earthly placement.

Yes.
