Hello and welcome to Mythic Mind, where we pursue wisdom on the paths between primary and secondary worlds.
Hello and welcome back as we continue through our Lord of the Rings study, which I led in the beginning of 2025.
Currently on Mondays we are doing side lessons and then on Thursdays we're doing the main lesson on that chunk of reading.
And so today we're going to look at a bit of Plato regarding the Ring of Gyges, which provides some good thematic background material.
And then on Thursday we'll be continuing with the Fellowship of the Ring, looking at Book 2, Chapters 1 through 5.
Today we're going to talk about a tale from Plato's Republic Book 2, referred to as the Ring of Gyges.
Now, this is a story that some of you may be familiar with, but even if you aren't, as I recount this tale, it's going to sound awfully familiar in light of our present study.
