so this the film about boy is based on the book of the same name which was released in 1998 and written by nick hornby about boy is a comedy drama movie released in april of 2002 it's one of several movie adaptations of nick hornby's written works the most well received which could be debated i've never seen any of the others so in my opinion it's the most well received i've

i'm not familiar with his work i just read this particular book but i haven't actually explored other things yet but this is one of those movies that we both enjoy a lot so i'm really looking forward to it kind of like the romeo michelle episode which in my opinion although i liked our first three episodes episode four romeo michelle onwards i think is where we picked up pace with this podcast

Nick Hornby is an English writer best known for his novels About a Boy and High Fidelity, which is a book that probably a lot

of people have heard of.

I have heard of that, but I don't know why or what it's about, but I've definitely heard of it somewhere along the line.

I believe High Fidelity came out before About a Boy.

Both books have been very well received, with About a Boy being turned into a film and a TV series, and High Fidelity being turned into a movie, a stage musical, and TV series.

Fever Pitch has also been turned into a movie, as well as A Long Way Down and Juliet Naked, which are all works of Nick

Colby.

nice see i really enjoyed the book but if anyone listening to this outside of the uk struggled with the the britishisms of the movie you'll really struggle with the book the book is so british like proper english

yeah well i mean originally they wanted to americanize it for the movie oh yeah i know no but we'll get to that so the

heart and soul of the book is just how rooted in uk culture it really is yeah i think so he

worked as a secondary school english teacher before becoming a novelist and has since expanded into screenplay writing where he has written various films such as wild which most people will know is the movie starring reese witherspoon i don't know that one It's got a picture of Reese Witherspoon on the cover of, like, trees, and she's got a backpack on.

That's probably just a candid.

But I've never seen the movie, so...

But I think it might be based on a true story.
