Halloween brings a surge in Loch Ness Monster sightings, Heidi Klum teases her latest elaborate costume, and a newly restored version of Christopher Lee’s Dracula revives footage lost for decades…
Loch Ness monster sightings have more than doubled this year, with an official registry accepting 15 reports so far in 2026, compared with just six for all of last year.
The latest accepted sighting came in August when a German tourist reported seeing a roughly 20-foot-long creature surfacing about 1,000 feet offshore before disappearing.
Other visitors described a dark mound rising above the water and a large eel-like animal swimming against the current.
But longtime Nessie investigator Adrian Schein cautions that the sightings may not be what they seem, arguing that the monster is typically spotted in calm water.
Scientists have also found eel DNA throughout Loch Ness, raising the possibility that unusually large eels could explain some reports.
The legendary creature continues to draw tourists to Scotland, generating an estimated $55 million annually for the region.
