The head of fire and emergency fences quits more than a month, what, five weeks after the Minister of Internal Affairs said she no longer had confidence in him.

In September, Brooke Van Velden accused Kerry Gregory of keeping significant information from her for a year, which she said breached her trust.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand Board Chair Raveen Jadaram has been handling, really, the resignation and joins us now.

On the 16th of September, you put out a statement saying, Fire and Emergency NZ has acknowledged significant shortcomings identified by the governments and administration committees inquiring to fleet management and is committed to transparent action in response.
This is one of the many responses that I would like to suggest that I, as a new chair, have brought to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
Well, as you've just stated, the minister said she lost confidence in Mr. Gregory.
And the board commenced conversations with Mr. Gregory about the minister's statements.
And it took Mr. Gregory a short of two and a half weeks to come to the conclusion that the best thing for him to do was to resign.

Well, the board seems not only to have agreed, but to have led him to that conclusion.
Well, as you can understand, with the minister's statement, she also wrote to the board and required the board to investigate and to understand why Mr. Gregory had led the no surprises issue.
