In this episode, Jane goes into the victim mindset and how it pertains to holding you back from reaching your weight loss goals. Things like saying: nothing ever works for me or always blaming…
But there's a big difference between getting in touch with our feelings and moving on versus living in the victim mindset.
Now, side note, as someone who has been through, you know, very much life-changing grief and had life-altering experiences happen many times in my life, I'm very quick to say there is no timeline for anything.
But circling back to the victim mindset, to me, when I'm working with clients, so my realm is obviously health, fitness, weight loss, changing lifestyle.
the physical body and addressing this mental piece obviously too, but more physical based.
When I'm working with someone in the victim mindset, common things that I see here are nothing ever works for me.
I've tried it all, nothing works.
I'm broken or excuse after excuse like I want to lose the weight but I'll start when but then three months later you're like everything is still happening this and that if you're in this perpetual cycle of things always happen to me woe is me you're in this perpetual cycle of I'm broken I've tried it.
Nothing works for me.
Like, you are not going to get anywhere.
Point blank.
You are so closed off.
Nothing is going to land with you.
You're not willing to truly try.
Sometimes a very common thing I see when someone is in a victim mentality is if they are coming from the place of, I've tried so many things and I must be broken.
They're coming from a place of fear where I haven't had success before and I don't want to go through that again.
Or I'm afraid to try.
I'm afraid to invest.
I'm afraid this won't work.
Sometimes if it does work, I'm afraid of what that might look like, mean like.
Because if something has changed physically, it's probably changed aspects of your life.
And that can be scary.
So a lot of times the victim mindset is coming from a place of fear.
But it is extremely important to understand that.
Now, my job, if I'm working with a client and I can kind of pick up on, they have a poor history, we'll say, with diets and body image.
Me as a coach working with somebody, I have to take that in.
