Life rarely unfolds exactly the way we expect. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I'm joined by Bill Streetman for a conversation about identity, resilience, adapting to change, and…
Bill StreetmanGuestDarylHostNow, you have an entire story that's been, been shared, um, a few times in the fitness space about weight loss.
But there's, there's a lot more to you when it comes to adapting, evolving, and, and your identity, isn't there?

Yeah, um, and I'm very grateful for that because, um, every, um, every change that occurs, not every change that occurs is by choice.

Every morning I may choose what I eat for breakfast, but the reality is that doesn't change the world.
Right.

Um, you know, deciding what I'm gonna do after high school, you know? Am I gonna go to college? Am I gonna...

Um, all of these things are, are opportunities disguised as challenges, um, and/or times when we hope we make the right decision and whatnot.

And in a lot of cases it ends up it almost doesn't matter, because every branch of life opens up all kinds of new opportunities.

And in fact, if, if you sat down when you were five, almost impossible, 10, 12, even 25, and said, "This is gonna be my life," I, I bet it doesn't become your life, because things happen and, um, you have to adjust to them.

Um, some dreams become impossible because of certain conditions, situations, life events, world events, things like that.

Had that happened, my life would've gone way to a different direction, as it did for a lot of guys my age.
Mm-hmm.

And, um, you know, lots of stories come out of that that both unfortunately ended some people's lives, but created a whole new world of opportunities for them they never saw coming.

You know, it almost sounds like I'm saying don't bother planning, it's just gonna happen, right? I'm not saying that.

But, um, it's, it's creating a certain flexibility in your life that says, "Okay, when stuff happens, you ha- you now have a couple of choices," you know? Deal with it or deny it.

And, uh, those kind of options and those kind of situations are the ones that are gonna really dictate a lot of your life.
Yeah.
I, I...
