2026 Greyhound Derby Semi-Finals Best Bets

P.L. We are down to the last 12.

It's now a point where, to this point, you've been going, you know, anyone with a dog left in the derby going, well, fair play to them.

You know, they're having the time of their lives.

And now is the only time you really sort of feel sympathy for them is when they're in that last 12 and those that finish fourth, fifth and sixth on Saturday night are going to be heartbroken because, in truth...

This is the night.

It's not final night.

If you're beaten on final night, you get over it.

You had a dream.

You got to the Derby final.

You had the lunch, whatnot.

But when you're in a Derby semi-final, you're one step away from having a Derby finalist.

And that, in truth, anyone that gets involved in a greyhound, that's all you dream of.

Yeah.

And there's going to be six happy connections and six unhappy, I suppose, or quite melancholy and sad, I guess, to get that far and yet only nearly get there.

But the thing is, Ian, It's still a very, very wide open derby.

I think you kind of mentioned on a number of occasions on some of the previous podcasts we've done in that by the the kind of quarterfinals and especially the semifinals, you kind of establish a fairly short-priced favourite.

But this derby is wide open with some real classy types and some different styles, especially because of that man, Liam Dowling, and this Ballymac breeding that he's done so well with.

So it's all bubbling up really nicely.

And I have to say, I still don't know.

And you're going to ask me a question later and I won't know the answer.

Just looking at it, P.L., as I said, down to the last 12, eight of which are Irish-trained, four stars for the UK, with the exception of sole focus in terms of who's around the 80-101 mark.

The other three have strong, strong claims.
