conclusion over the course of the last two weeks or so just going back two weeks in fact of course and that was the 2026 Boilsports Irish Greyhound Derby final with a winner's prize of 125,000 euros it was won by Bacos Gold for the Jolly Good Company Syndicate and that man champion trainer Graham Holland the sixth Irish Greyhound Derby success three in a row for the Golden Base trainer and as I said what a performance there from Bacos Gold to win in 29.05 And we're going to talk about or we're going to speak with a man, of course, who's part of that syndicate, of course, and well known within greyhound circles.

We can associate him with some big, big dogs.

And that, of course, is owner Graham Box, who kindly joins us on the podcast.

uh our family's always been in it and it's bred into you isn't it uh our granddad used to race and breed them my dad raced and breed them and then i used to go to catford and wimbledon with my dad from a baby through to when it shut down and then i took over and i really stepped up in a bigger way really

race course is not meeting animal welfare standards that's a that's a great clickbait headline julia i i feel like things like this uh it depends how we look at it doesn't it we can see that as a look every race course worldwide has got this very prominent banner now on the desktop version of tripadvisor that's really good we can also look into the small print of their animal welfare policy and pick holes in it we can notice that Greyhound tracks don't have this on.

So it's not completely black and white, is it?

Lots of, I have seen it, sadly, a lot with dogs who have been trained with highly aversive methods.
