Dave and Steve (@Ace\_Previews) talk through the 4 quarter-final matches in New York! Tiafoe/Michelsen Shelton/Alcaraz Zverev/Botic vDZ Blockx/Khachanov Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company…
Steve, over the weekend, I talked about how this was Francis Tiafoe's best season of his career and a little bit under talked about, did mention some, you know, American tennis media drum beat about it.
Uh, that I don't know, just, it just, it just doesn't seem like people are very high on big foe for the work he's actually put in this season.
And, uh, I know you and I were just talking before I hit record and you mentioned some pretty staggering things for the state of Tiafoe in terms of his rankings.
yeah i mean look i'm also going to preface this with i think we had a chat on the all surfers show around tiafa at the start of the year i was talking about how you know it was going to be a big year for him and he'd made some pretty big comments around you know his professionalism and his play week to week in 2026 and I think a lot of people kind of laughed at those comments from Tiafoe early on this year.
But when you look at it, if he, you know, there is a world at the end of this week where Francis Tiafoe is the world number four.
If he can win a couple more matches.
And it's also probably worth noting at the moment that if the season ended as it was at the moment, he'd be in the ATP finals.
So look, it's been a pretty good year for him, I think.
I'm going to preface any conversation I have here with that I'm on Tiafoe in the outrights.
So it's, there's that element and wrinkle to any advice that I'm providing here.
But I think, yeah, he's had some up and down moments, but it's, you know, his last couple of weeks in particular, you know, makes a 1000 final and then comes in here and You know, maybe you think back and you go the last couple of years, maybe he would have lost that first round match to Darm in years gone by.
But he's just giving himself opportunities.
Well, first off, Steve,
No, not in this current iteration of Tiafoe, but there may be...
No iteration was he losing that match, sorry.
