**My experience in the ballroom scene and walking trans man realness.** **Part 1**
The ball was called Rags to Riches Ball, and that was, uh, 2025, and I walked Transman Realness.
At first when, uh, Father Loran, when he saw a picture of me, he was like, "Damn, dude." He said, "I can't believe how tall you are." He said, "You know what? You're gonna be really good in the ballroom scene." You know, I'm taking it like, "Whatever.
I'll, I'll do it.
You know, it'll just be something cool to do, some- something dope." So I went there, right? And we went in this church, and the ball was down in the basement area.
And I'm seeing all type of LBGT people.
Some people had on costumes.
Um, and then there was a lot of icons there, man.
I was kinda starstruck because over the years as I had been watching the ballroom in- on YouTube, I had picked up on some of these people that, that, uh, participate in the ballroom scene.
The ones that was, uh, kind of like my age.
I saw, uh, Kelly Gorgeous Gucci.
She was there.
Um, of course, I said Father Loran.
Father Loran is probably one of the first trans men that ever walked in the scene.
He transitioned a long time ago, like sometime in the, in the, uh, 2000s.
So it's either him or Javon Martin.
Javon Martin also was a trans man.
But y'all know back in the day we didn't have Transman Realness as a category.
Back in the day they used to call it butch realness.
That's when there were, uh, lesbians or butch people that would walk realness.
