Jenny EliscuHostThe first time I felt like I was a creative was playing with my friends outside.
I loved pretend, I loved to imagine, and I loved to do a story from beginning to end, you know? Like, I was like, "If we're playing Barbies, like, what's the situation? Where do we end up?" You know? So I've always just been drawn to, like, storytelling and, and also been really drawn to humor.
Like, I think I like...
My dad was so funny growing up, and I think that I got a lot of humor from him, and just the ability to kind of step out when I feel safe to do something goofy.
And I feel like both of those things have really informed and impacted where I am now in my creativity.
But, like, the first time I remember being like, "Music, that's cool," my dad brought home, like, a, a DVD.
It was so cool to me what they were doing.
Like, all of these people could do something completely different, like a drummer.
There was a rapper.
There was a guitar player.
Like, all these different things coming together and, like, friends.
It felt like a community on stage, and I was really drawn to that.
I remember sitting there with my, like, pen and paper, and I was taking notes as to what each one was doing, and thinking about which one of my friends could fit that energy.
And, like, would write down, "Okay, now Alyssa could be the drummer, and Rebecca could play bass." You know, like, n- none of us knew how to do anything.
I was, like, literally six years old.
But that was the first time I was like, "Music is cool." But I didn't get my hands on it until I was in, like, fifth grade, and my dad got me a guitar for Christmas.
And I didn't touch it for a long time.
It wasn't until, like, sixth grade that I really, like, touched it.
I'm already really good on there.
I don't really need to do this."
