Robert Perez makes his return to the show this week. The former Texas Parks and Wildlife Director of Hunter Education and lifelong Texan has some hot take on the Trump Administrations recent…
yeah
yeah i there hasn't been enough complaining from sportsmen about these very things you know i will give you an example i have hunted turkeys on public land in texas but i can only find one property within an hour and a half of here where i could hunt turkeys that I had to get a permit, and it was Lake Whitney.
Why don't I have the opportunity to harvest one? And you could say it can only be one per hunter.
You have to check your turkey in in those situations because we're strictly managing it.
And then you could even say after 30 gobblers are harvested, the season's closed.
What you just mentioned right there is exactly what NOAA does with the fishery opening landscape.
They open it up when X amount of pounds are reported, then they close the season.
Something that Parks and Wildlife has been very proactive with is that e-registration on some of the stuff.
Back in the day, you'd go dove hunting at these public leases and you would have to fill out a card, drop it in a box.
Now they have a app where you literally could use that electronic site registration.
It's my understanding when you tag a deer, turkey in the field, You know, you have GIS location that you, you know, they want to know what region it was, you know, biological region it was harvested.
I mean, so that information and technology is already there, like you had mentioned.
