We're gonna break this down from every angle, including whether I like the deal, why J.J. McCarthy was not going to be the starter here again, and what this means for the Vikings franchise.

I did a video last week, and I said that the indications of this being a possible trade were absurd.

Why would the Giants want to add a quarterback as volatile as J.J. McCarthy to their QB room when it's so early in the season, John Harbaugh wants to win, and there are other veterans available? The Giants are now two and one.

I was expecting more of a Zach Wilson-type return, a quarterback that struggled mightily, fell out of favor, seventh-round pick swap, plus the salary J.J. McCarthy is owed next year.

So a fifth-round pick is a lot for the Giants to give the Vikings to bring in a quarterback that, let's remind you, has played 14 games between preseason and regular season in three years, and six times has either had to leave the game early or not play the next week because of injury.

And that is, makes no mention of the statistical difficulties that he's had, the mechanical difficulties that he's had.

So I think this is a great deal for the Vikings, and I thought it was an absurd...

Like, I, I think this is a real gamble being made by the Giants, that they're trying to, to find something in a player who played 10 games last year, is still super young, maybe needed a change of scenery.

And there might be a path to him playing now that Jaxson Dart is out for the year.

But I understand why the Vikings made the deal, because J.J. McCarthy was not going to start again for this team aside from cataclysmic injury issues.
