One of the very first surprise cuts, I would say, of the Broncos' roster trimmed down from 90 to 53 players on Sunday was when we got the notification word that fifth-round rookie tight end Justin Jolie, who just in the previous game against the Minnesota Vikings, Caught an 88-yard touchdown pass from Sam Ellinger.

And the reason why I say that is because Jolie, while I understand for him coming out of college, they viewed him as a raw prospect, he still was a little bit behind as training camp and Even the preseason kind of came along, had his big moment in the last preseason game.

It was not where the Broncos, I think, ideally envisioned for him to justify keeping him on the 53-man roster.

But for me, I thought he was going to be on the 53 because typically that fourth tight end that Denver keeps on the roster, usually a game day inactive, which means a red shirt type of season for a player like that, unless there was an injury, but the Broncos felt like he just didn't develop enough to the point of where they could justify a 53 man roster spot.

The plan right now, the Broncos want to bring him back onto the practice squad where he can continue to develop.

Now, to me, Sticking on the length of the tight end and why this was a surprise for me.

Now, in times where he's running routes, I didn't feel like, at least from my practice observations, and granted, Denver, they have more film.

They have the chance to run it back, whereas we don't, in the media, we don't get practice footage that we can go through and analyze.

So, for me, I just didn't feel like Dallin Bentley, in a passing game at least, from a catching standpoint, I didn't feel like he was utilized enough to make a 53-man roster.
