Gill BirrellHostSo Amy Martin, who we spoke to on the podcast, she was fascinated and she was looking at, you know, women's health and the cycles, but also the cycles of the year.
And I thought, gosh, actually, I think that's something that naturally, like I would do.
In winter, I definitely find myself by kind of eight, half eight, thinking, yeah, no, I'm done for the day.
so i think naturally i'm someone that probably gravitates towards more sleep and recharge in um in the winter and and in the autumn and every year pastries every year i tell myself it's not that bad i don't mind winter and every year i'm like this is awful like i just don't like being cold but what i do do is have a routine, which I haven't always liked.
I put things in the diary so I would never go to a competition or training feeling unprepared.
So things like does my horse need to be read in seven times a week no absolutely not like if i can prioritize three or four days and one of those days could be like a luncheon or a groundwork session if i've got a horse that can ride and lead like kind of ride one lead one so you you know kind of put exercise rugs on when it's really grim so that then you're not having to wait for them to dry after you finish you know so for me it's actually thinking practically what can i you know what can i do to make make it happen um and making commitments with friends like i would never say to a friend like i'm really sorry i'm not turning up to do that because i can't be bothered so i think it's um you know having those commitments looking at the calendar and just things like if you if you're after you you know your double clears for your british show jumping making sure you get them in or if you're after your schools your pet plans or
because there is nothing worse than getting up at like half five in the morning and you can't feel your fingers and you know, you're trying to put up.
So it's just about kind of saying, right, okay, what, what do I want to achieve? And then work

It's really interesting, one of our mutual friends said that to me last week, that she's tried to get all her scores for dressage now, because actually when it becomes cold and dark and slippy, she actually just doesn't want to wear.
Yeah, and then you can afford to then give them a little bit of a quieter time and then pick them up ready for you know if we're taking the areas and regionals for example you can pick them up you know in time for february and um you know so you can afford them to just take the pressure off but for me i'm someone that um exercise makes a big difference to my energy levels and how i feel and motivation and so i suppose it's again recognizing what is right for you and um you've actually really inspired me without realizing um probably recently because you've been training for your half marathon and and then you got really poorly and you were like oh it's a cold and I'm thinking well she's a nurse so I'm not going to tell her she's got flu but I mean even I can see that you've got flu like you were really poorly and you you managed to kind of take the foot off off the gas but because you've done all your baseline training your fitness is there and anyway I thought right come on so even though I'm not supposed to run and a huge amount just because of old injuries i can bike so i've been out on the bike and things so um and it makes you feel so much better you know about um and because i'm a whole this is my last thing because i'm a wall that i've ridden horse down i found myself with extra time in the day So I'm like, well, I'm not going to just waste that time doing scrolling.
Like, actually, I can go and do a session on, I've got an exercise bike, a Peloton, and oh boy, if you've ever been on one of those with those American people trying to inspire you, flip a neck, it's nothing against American people, because my God, they do inspire me, but I'm like, oh, they're like, it's
