I'm curious to know, like, from your perspective and from your knowledge, why should leaders, why should entrepreneurs publish a book? Why should they even consider putting in the effort?

So one of my guests on my show, Self-Publishing for Professionals, his name is Nick Loper, and he has built this, like, amazing email list with giving away free e-books and things like that.

But he's like, "Yeah, but it took me way longer to get these million downloads for the podcast." So that just goes to show, Julia, the elevation a book gives you as an authority.

Like, my first book I wrote and self-published was called The Guide to Traveling Gluten Free, and so I always bring a couple copies with me when I'm out traveling, especially if I'm flying.

And one time I was, um, on a flight, and I was all the way in the back, and sometimes I like being in the back 'cause it's quiet in the airplane.

I started chatting with her, and she's like, "Oh, I have a flight attendant friend that's gluten free." I was like, "Oh my gosh, would she like a copy of my book?" And I whipped it out of my backpack, and she's like, "You wrote this?" And so she was super impressed, and then the rest of the flight, Julia, I got the best service.

So it's really, that's the kind of the fun part of being an author, is just the, you know, the notoriety you get from writing a book.
