Tell us about that transition, how that moment when season of time when you started feeling burnt out and then what happened next?
6:52
Yeah.
6:52
So I had been teaching for about a decade at that point and I was teaching middle schoolers.
6:56
So just teaching middle schoolers in and of itself can worry you out because I had about between, depending on the school that I was in, because some schools had a cap limit on science classrooms of 25 and some didn't.
7:07
So some classes I was teaching 40 kids in a class.
7:11
And that was really hard.
7:12
And so anyway, and especially since I did most of my career in title one school.

So was there anything like that before when AI came on the scene and before you made that move?
AnkurHOST
7:06
But the transformation of themselves is something which, have you seen that in any of the authors? And if someone has to get that kind of realization, what someone should think about before even they start writing?
7:19
Yeah, no, that's a great question.
7:21
I don't think anybody has actually ever asked me that question.
7:23
But one of the big, I think, transformations I see authors make, especially if I'm either writing their book or I'm editing their book, because sometimes people have already written their book and they just ask me to edit their nonfiction book, is that while when I'm doing it, One of the things I see a lot of authors do, and this is very common for people, especially if they're new authors or they're not professional.
7:45
And none of my clients are professional writers.
7:48
So they use a lot of like indescript words, like sometimes or maybe we're like, I just did fill in the blank.
7:56
And so those words really take the power out of your content.

So how does an author pursue commercial success seriously without becoming psychologically owned by those numbers? And where does this healthy ambition and an attachment begin?
11:42
Yeah
11:42
... and traditional publishing.
11:43
So way back when, before Amazon was a thing, one of the really, the few ways you could publish your book was through a traditional publisher.
11:51
Now, you could even before Amazon self-publish your book, but it was a lot harder 'cause you had to do a lot more steps.
11:56
You had to find a book binder.
11:57
You had to buy your own book, sell it, and distribute it yourself.
12:00
So it was definitely a lot harder before Amazon.
13:42
Oh my gosh.
